Sr. Director Finance & Grants

The International Rescue Committee, Inc. (IRC) is a private international, nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. IRC under its USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project is currently seeking experienced professionals to fill the Senior Director Finance & Grants position based in Islamabad.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Director Finance & Grants based in Islamabad has the overall policy and management responsibility for the finance and accounting functions for the Pakistan Reading Project. The responsibilities include general controller ship, staff training, management, treasury budget functions and grants.
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Chief of Party and other senior office staff
External: External to the PRP Office: Regional Controller. Regional Director. Internal Audit: IRC’s Program Directors and other key Program Staff. External to IRC: Banking Managers, Donors and local government staff (taxation and regulation related). External Auditors.
Education: A Relevant degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or Finance with a recognized professional certificate in accounting such as CW. or a Masters degree in Accounting
Minimum ten years of managerial experience in the financial area of a non profit organization or five years of managerial experience in finance in an international commercial organization.
Requires extensive experience i\ working with computerized accouvting systems, standard spreadsheet and database programs Experience with USAID funded projects is an asset.
three years of Expat Experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Good written and verbal skills in the English language.
Extensive experience in working with computerized accounting systems, standard spreadsheet and database programs (SUN System and Vision) Proactive member of the top-management team
Must seek to identify and communicate potential problems and propose solutions to the level of management appropriate to effect solutions.
Must be able to function effectively in a loosely structured, but complex work environment and to set appropriate priorities and deal effectively with numerous simultaneous requirements. Must have proven ability to carry out responsibities independently with minimal technical support from within the program organization
Good communicator with ability to work in an organizational environment involving a diversity of cultures / languages. Good facilitator and team player. Committed to staff training and development.
